The 915 Five features El Paso’s musicians and artists answering the same five questions. Each installment offers a stripped-down look at the people shaping the 915’s cultural landscape, in their own words. This week, we’re featuring local band, The Veronas, who recently released their EP, “Crime of Passion & Other Weekend Sports.”
Band/Artist Name: The Veronas
Line-up: Tuyo (Drummer, Composer, Attorney), Steve (Guitarist, Composer, Singer, Accountant), Draco (Bassist, Composer, Singer, Therapist)
Formed: 2024; me (Draco) and the guitarist/singer Steven would jam very often and eventually we came up with something we really liked so we took it to the studio, however we didn’t have a drummer. Tuyo decided to help us record the song as the studio drummer (he’s a guitarist). But during jam sessions, we just kept creating more and more music. Until we had an EP. After recording the first project, we came up with the name and by the time we knew it, we had a band.

- What high school did you go to?
Said and Steven went to Hanks.
2. What’s your favorite local venue to play — and why?
Monarch; es de culto. Todos aman ese lugar, porque nunca ah cambiado y al parecer nunca cambiara.
3. If you had to describe your sound without using a genre label, what would you say?
Rock and Roll
4. What do you do when the song isn’t coming — push through, scrap it or something else?
We move on and keep jamming. When something works, you don’t question anything. It happens; the idea channels through the room, through all of us. We are nothing but antennas, expressing ideas that belong to the cosmos.
5. If someone is seeing you live for the first time, what should they expect?
Don’t have expectations, wouldn’t you like to be surprised?
