The 915 Five features El Paso’s musicians and artists answering the same five questions. Each installment offers a stripped-down look at the people shaping the 915’s cultural landscape, in their own words. This week, we’re featuring a very new local artist, Para Rosa.

Band/Artist Name: Para Rosa

Line-up: Axel Andre Monrroy (Lead Singer/Producer/Everything Lowkey)

Formed: 2025. I had been working on music since 2022 but never felt like I was good enough. I’ve been working on making actual songs that have value and I eventually got better. I still have so much to learn and I make all the music on my phone for now. Although I’m switching to PC this month to learn different DAWS. I always want my music to be extremely personal to me and expressive. I first learned how to make music from my brother when he taught me how to make simple melodies. In the past few months, I’ve been collecting new songs that are more political and personal. I want to feel warm when I make music.

Find Them:

1. What high school did you go to?

Alta Vista Early College

2. What’s your favorite local venue to play — and why?

Barley started doing shows and I’m doing my second show in two days.

3. If you had to describe your sound without using a genre label, what would you say?

Flower Music. Pretty music and electric. I wanna use live instruments, though.

4. What do you do when the song isn’t coming — push through, scrap it or something else?

When a song isn’t working out, I usually take a break from recording and play the beat on the speakers and write different lyrics. And if that doesn’t work, I try to alter the beat but it gets to a point where you just gotta let it go before it impacts your work negatively.

5. If someone is seeing you live for the first time, what should they expect?

Some electric sounds with guitar. Hopefully a lot of fun too. I want to have a good time like the crowd.
